seaside arrowgrass, Triglochin maritima
Seaside arrowgrass grows on margins of wet areas, and in fens and bogs. Its ability to be at home in those acidic and alkaline extremes is one of its advantages. It then protects itself by producing cyanide. You don't want it in your pasture! Those feathery tufts are the stigmas. It's successful enough to grow around the world. Here it's in AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE,IA(T), ID, IL(T), IN, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ(E), NM, NV, NY, OH(T), OR, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, WY, across Canada, and on SPM. Wilderness State Park, Emmet Co MI, 5/27/12. Arrowgrass family, Juncaginaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
