Brazilian vervain, Verbena brasiliensis
Brazilian vervain is a south American plant that has been working its way north, mostly with the help of gardeners. It's taller than most garden verbenas, with smaller flowers. It may be working itself up to being one of the next invasives in southern states. Its similar to and sometimes confused with purpletop vervain, V. bonariensis, which has slightly larger flowers. Those of Brazilian are about 3/16 inch across. Now found wild in AL, AR, CA, FL, GA, HI, MO, MS, NC, OK, OR, SC, TN, TX, and VA. Morton Co GA, 3/16/16. Vervain family, Verbenaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
