stiff yellow flax, Linum medium
We've previously looked at blue and red flax, none of which were native. Here's a native yellow flax. There are a number of species, all with yellow flowers in southern Michigan. Stiff yellow stands a couple feet tall, with numerous flowers about a half inch across. Beyond Sibley Prairie it grows in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, and ON. Wayne Co OH, 8/8/14. Flax family, Linaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
