mullein foxglove, Dasistoma macrophylla
Mullein foxglove is neither, if one were to be technical. It is a bit of a taxonomic nomad. It's wandered through the figwort, plantain, and broomrape families, currently settled in the latter. For genus, it has visited Aureolaria, Seymeria, Afzelia and the current Dasistoma. Mullein foxglove is a large annual up to six feet or so, but these flowers were only about a half inch across. This is hemiparasitic on oak, and always grows with them. But it also likes borders or openings where it can get some sun. Mullein foxglove grows in AL, AR, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI(T), MO, MS, NE, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, and WV. Adams Co OH, 7/8/20. Broomrape family, Orobanchaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
