Japanese meadowsweet, Spiraea japonica
Japanese meadowsweet is a popular landscape shrub. Around home the few escapes are compact bushes not much over two feet. In Ohio's Seneca State Forest these much taller and more diffuse plants were not immediately recognizable as the same species. Mostly they were along streams, and did add a nice accent to things. But in some areas they are becoming an invasive nuisance. Japanese meadowsweet has been reported from CA, CT, DE, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, NC, NH, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, UT, VA, WI, WV, NS, and ON. Scioto Co OH, 7/8/20. Rose family, Rosaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
