white mullein, Verbascum lychnitis
White mullein? Sometimes it does have white flowers. This yellow one was a happy accident. There was a large flowered mullein by the freeway exit that stopped me. Got some good shots. What I hadn't seen as it zoomed by was this white mullein. These flowers are only about the size of my thumb nail. To have both those introduced mulleins in the same place makes me suspect that freeway may have replaced someone's garden. White mullein has spread to the wild in CT, DE, IA, MA, MD, MI, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VA, VT, WV, and ON. Washtenaw Co MI, 7/29/20. Figwort family, Scrophulariaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
