denseflower mullein, Verbascum densiflorum
You're right! This is the image from yesterday's blog. It's now correctly identified. See those red anthers attached to the side of their filament? An important clue! Denseflower has much the same story as that other mullein. Large flowers that have it in gardens, and escaping to the wild. It's a European, but English gardeners at one point strangely believed it came from here. Fake news! Just like my ID yesterday. Denseflower mullein has been reported from IA, MA, MI, and WI. Washtenaw Co MI, 7/29/20. Figwort family, Scrophulariaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
