Woods' rose, Rosa woodsii
Woods' rose can be three meters tall. This one at about 10,000 feet in the Rockies was more of a ground hugger. Wood's rose has 81 citations in the Native American Ethnobotany database. It was eaten, brewed, used for orange dye, treated many maladies, and was rather magical for fishermen, hunters and ghosts. It grows in AK, AZ, CA, CO, IA, ID, KS, MN, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI, WY, AB, BC, MB, NT, ON, QC, SK, and YT. Summit Co CO, 6/16/13. Rose family, Rosaceae.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
