sea rosemary, Argusia gnaphalodes

Sea rosemary is a pale-leaved attractive shrub of coastal sands in southeast FL, and southward from there. It is endangered in its native area. It is cultivated in similar places, and has become wild in CA and HI. In days of yore in those more southern areas, it seems to have been good for what ails you. The tea has been cited as used for kidney stones and other urinary problems, rheumatism, fish poisoning, to induce abortions, and for STDs. Not sure if the fish were poisoned to catch them, or if they had poisoned those who ate them. In Florida, its range was too limited for it to be useful. Monroe Co FL, 1/26/13.
