crimson clover, Trifolium incarnatum
Crimson clover! If you're old enough to remember the Shondells, or maybe Joan Jett, you should probably stop reading now. But it's probably too late, and I do feel guilty about it. Like me, you may have a 'Crimson and Clover' earworm for the rest of the day. Crimson clover is a European import, but the song is all ours. This plant is used very much the same as other clovers and alfalfa. The sprouts are edible. Crimson clover grows wild in every state except AK, AZ, CO, IN, NV, UT, and WI, and in BC, MB, and ON. Chester Co SC, 3/15/16. Bean family, Fabaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
