peelbark St. John's-wort, Hypericum fasciculatum
Wildflower photography is about opportunity. Some you create yourself, like taking a drive to Florida. Others are happy circumstances along the way. Florida seems to have extra wide margins along their highways. Great places to spot flowers! And sometimes if there is forest in the background, a shot seems to set itself up. This peelbark St. John's-wort was in good light, right in front of some handy shade. Almost like it was waiting for my moment. Or for some Seminole? They used an infusion of it for internal problems. Problems? There was an opportunity to obfuscate the unpleasant. Peelbark grows in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TX. Polk Co FL, 10/21/15. St. John's-wort family, Hypericaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
