tobacco, Nicotiana tabacum
So much to say about tobacco, but does it really need repeating? Anyway, it does have nice flowers. These are an inch or a little more long, and you can occasionally see them escaped from cultivation to fields or roadsides. Tobacco was originally native to the Caribbean, and has now been found wild in CA, CT, FL, HI, KS, LA, MA, MD, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, TX, VA, and ON. Beal Gardens, MSU, 8/13/13. Nightshade family, Solanaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
