purple fountaingrass, Pennisetum setaceum
Purple fountaingrass in Michigan? Should we feel guilty for growing this invasive? Maybe, but only if we think about setting a bad example. It won't be a problem this far north, and it is certainly attractive. And we probably shouldn't encourage the nursury industry to sell it here or anywhere. There are other choices. I didn't buy it this day at the nursery, but I shot the picture. Should I feel guilty . . . Purple fountaingrass has been reported from AZ, CA, CO, FL, HI, KY, LA, NM, OR, and TN. Cultivated, Lenawee Co MI, 3/21/16. Grass family, Poaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
