roughleaf ricegrass, Oryzopsis asperifolia

Roughleaf ricegrass seems like it shouldn't grow like it does. This one was under cedars where it couldn't have gotten much sunlight. And it blooms quite early for a grass, although maybe not up north where this one was. All in all, it makes it fun to see even if you were there looking for rare petals. Roughleaf grows in woodlands in CO, CT, IA, ID, IL, IN(E), MA, MD(T), ME, MI, MN, ND, NH, NJ(E), NM, NY, OH(E), PA, RI, SD, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, NT, ON, PE, QC, and SK.
