yellow ladies'-tresses, Spiranthes ochroleuca
Yellow? Well, it's less white than other ladies'-tresses, but it seems to want to be one of that tribe. As the flowers age, they become more white. Because of that, and because it just looks a lot like nodding ladies'-tresses, this species was not finally accepted until 1980. Colorless dried herbarium specimens are notoriously hard to identify. Some would still lump this together with the nodding (S. cernua). The herbarium problem could mean that it might not be a sure thing to say yellow ladies'tresses grows in CT, IN(T), KY(S), MA, MD(E), ME, MI, NH, NJ, NY(V), OH, PA, RI, TN(X), VA, VT, WI, WV, NB, NS, ON, and PE. Monroe Co MI, 9/8/15. Orchid family, Orchidaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
