Front Range

The Front Range Is everyone's goal as they drive westward into Colorado. How soon can we see the mountains? On a clear day, you might catch your first glimpse around Ft. Morgan, about sixty miles out. You will have to get a lot closer to start seeing Front Range penstemons, and all the other mountain wildflower delights. It's a trip every flower lover should take. This shot was taken on a roadside not far from Idaho Springs at about 8000 feet. This penstemon is easily seen on Front Range roadsides and in other open areas in CO and WY.
