creeping burhead, Echinodorus cordifolius
Creeping burhead? What a creepy name for such an attractive plant. It's alternate common name of spadeleaf sword isn't much better. Nonetheless we like them enough to bring them into our aquariums and water gardens, and to develop cultivated varieties with mottled leaves. They will bloom in water, or in muddy areas. Creeping burhead grows in AL, AR, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN(X), KS, KY, LA, MD(E), MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA, and south through much of South America. Dixie Co FL, 10/20/15. Water plantain family, Alismataceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
