smooth cat's-ear, Hypochaeris glabra
Smooth cat's-ear looks like just another one of those dandelion wannabes. Of course, that's the main idea. The dandelion style of lots of yellow flowers and lots of airborne seeds is one of the great success stories among plants. With this one, the flower heads are a little smaller, and the plants a little taller. Smooth cat's-ear is a European, east Asian and north African native that now grows in many areas around the world, including AL, AR, CA, FL, GA, HI, IL, LA, MA, ME, MS, NC, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TX, WA, WV, BC, and ON. Winnsboro Co SC, 3/15/16. Aster family, Asteraceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
