early whitetop fleabane, Erigeron vernus
Early whitetop fleabane is nearly the exact opposite of a remarkable plant. The best I can come up with is that it is often biennial, when most Erigeron are annual or perennial. Identifying it is too confusing for it to be useful for herbal medicine, and it has no known active chemicals. It grows in damp areas, which helps keep many flower hunters away. If you work hard at identifications, and are willing to get into the mud, you might find early whitetop in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, or VA. Wakulla Co FL, 7/8/18. Aster family, Asteraceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
