scaleleaf aster, Symphyotrichum adnatum
Scaleleaf aster is one of the more easily identified of the many asters. Those small appressed leaves are, within the range of thse plants, unique in the genus. The flowers are not so helpful, ranging in color from white to a nice blue. The Coastal Plain Plants site notes that scaleleaf aster is an indicator species for Panhandle Silty Longleaf Woodlands community type. Scaleleaf is a plant of that and other coastal plain habitats of AL, FL, GA, LA, and MS. Worth Co GA, 10/19/15. Aster family, Asteraceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
