calla lily, Zantedeschia aethiopica

Wild? Calla lilies belong in the cooler at the florists! Or maybe in Ethiopica! That's what I thought until I saw them. Anyone else remember Steve McQueen in the cooler? The movie was The Great Escape, and calla lilies have a role in the floral version. I saw them behind the beach along the coast north of San Francisco. If you go looking for flowers around Frisco, you will see a great escape. That area is one of the worst in the country for alien invaders. Anyway, calla lilies are now wild in CA, HI, and OR.
