desert fern, Lysiloma watsonii
Another kiwi fruit? Older references called this feather bush. Now that it has become popular for xeric gardens, it's being marketed as desert fern. And kiwi fruit used to be Chinese gooseberries. This shrub does produce beans that are edible either raw or cooked, but we probably won't see fern beans at the market. Desert feather (might that work even better?) grows in the Sonoran region of AZ and Mexico. Foellinger-Freimann Conservatory, Ft. Wayne IN, 3/26/21. Bean family, Fabaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
