wayfaringtree, Viburnum lantana
One of these wayfared its way into my garden. Thanks, bird! Or maybe not. Every year I've looked at it and tried to decide if I really want it. Just now went to get the papers and it's got buds for the first time. All the more reason for it to get whacked! I'm sure there are creatures that welcome that smell. Humans don't tend to be among them. And the berries are toxic? I guess it's just lucky it landed on a lot where all the flowers are treasured. Wayfaringtree is a European that has now popped up in CO, CT, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MT, NY, OH, PA, VA, VT, WA, WI, WY, NB, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 5/21/11. Moschatel family, Adoxaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
