twig-rush, Cladium mariscoides
Twig-rush or smooth sawgrass is neither a rush or a grass. It's a sedge. These plants grow in damp areas, mostly along shores. It can be up to a meter tall. It is one of the many plants that guard our wetlands and our water. So stop and pay it a moment's respect, or maybe even venture into a fen and say hello. Twig-rush grows in AL, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN(S), MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA(E), RI, SC, TN TX, VA, VT, WI, LB, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, QC, and SK(E). Lucas CO OH, 6/13/17. Sedge family, Cyperaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
