Alaska orchid, Platanthera unalascensis
Wow! Alaska orchid was the penultimate find on our trip to the Upper Peninsula. After all, we were a long way from Alaska. In Michigan it can be found only on the eastern end of the UP, and on Drummond Island. These flowers are only approaching a quarter inch, and don't look to do much to attract for pollination. In the evening, they emit a honey-like fragrance. Alaska orchid grows in woodlands in AK, CA, CO, ID, MI, MT, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY, AB, BC, NF, ON, and QC. Mackinac Co MI, 6/19/21. Orchid family, Orchidaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
