black snakeroot, Sanicula marilandica
So many strikingly beautiful flowers, and then we come to Sanicula? This genus has little balls of greenish flowers, and even had some Botany Club people standing there asking, "What's that?". At another time when people were more immersed in the plants of their world, they would have known. Black snakeroot is emetic, and was widely used medicinally. Many herbal medicines rely on panacea effects to preserve their reputation. No panacea effects with this one! Black snakeroot grows in woods in AL, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, VA, VT, WA(S), WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, SK, and on SPM. Mackinac Co MI, 6/19/20. Celery family, Apiaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
