rose cactus, Pereskia grandifolia
Rose cactus is indeed a cactus. Those leaves are persistent. It's classification is not. Recent studies have placed this and its immediate relatives in a separate genus, Rhodocactus. That change is not reflected in some seemingly up-to-date sources, so I'm not sure what to call rose cactus at this point. It is a shrub or small tree from Brazil, now occasionally wild in FL. Matthaei Gardens, UM, 3/30/16. Cactus family, Cactaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
