henbane, Hyoscyamus niger

Henbane is a traditional ingredient in herbal medicines, potions, and brewing. It is psychoactive, producing hallucinations and sensations. Take it, and you will discover your magic. Confessed witches have used it. But you will probably have to grow it in your garden. I have not seen it wild, probably because I'm not old enough. Almost all of our Michigan records are from the 1800s. Henbane has been reported from CO, CT, DE, IA, ID, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, PA, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, WY, AB, MB, NB, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SK.
