slender bushclover, Lespedeza virginica
Slender bushclover stands about waist high, hence bushclover. Imagine you're a hungry herbivore. You will be very happy to spot a stand of bushclover. Bushclovers are good fodder for the herbivorous, including game birds. They are a principal food for bob white. The generic name commemorates Vincente Manual de Cespedes. Michaux named the genus based on specimens he collected in Florida in the late 18th century. His editor gets the blame for renaming him de Lespedez. Slender bushclover grows in openings in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, WV, and ON. Watkins Lake State Park, Jackson Co MI, 8/14/21. Bean family, Fabaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
