live-forever, Hylotelephium telephium
There's a patch of live-forever deep in the woods in Onsted State Game Area that seems to have lived there forever. I've observed it over three decades. Those plants have never bloomed. Curious? I was, so I transplanted a few to my garden. This is the result. They took a few years, but for the last two, they've bloomed. Looks like the deep woods isn't their favorite place. Here these are also toad's-bellies. The succulent leaves can be carefully mushed between your fingers until the skin separates. You can then blow in the stem end and inflate them like toads bellies! It's a skill that improves with many years of practice.
The kid in us lives forever too! Toad's-bellies have been reported from CT, DE, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, TN, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, MB, NB, NS, ON, PE, QC, SK, and YT. Lenawee Co MI, 9/17/21. Stonecrop family, Crassulaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
