hoary fleabane, Erigeron canus
Hoary fleabane is one of about 390 species in Erigeron. So here's a perverse answer to coming up with a way to make one look different; a lousy image. So many fleabanes, so little time? I really should have looked farther for a better subject. And again, how do you come up with names for all these species? Canus means gray, and was named by Asa Gray! Hoary fleabane grows in mostly rocky areas in AZ, CO, KS, NE, NM, OK, SD, UT, and WY. Ouray Co CO, 6/21/13. Aster family, Asteraceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
