smooth cliffbrake, Pellaea glabella
This is smooth cliffbrake. Probably. Ferns are not my forte. There are so few of them around home, and I haven't had enough chances to learn the identification keys. The result is images that sometimes don't have the necessary clues. This time I needed to be a lot closer, so we would know for sure how much fuzz there might be on the leaflets. But we will just have to go with smooth, and enjoy the image of a pretty little fern clinging to the rock face. Smooth cliffbrake does that in AL, AR, AZ, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NT, ON, QC, and SK. Adams Co OH, 10/2/21. Maidenhair fern family, Pteridaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
