aromatic aster, Symphyotrichum oblongifolium
Aromatic asters were scattered along our route last Saturday. They particularly seemed to like those roadsides. Where mowing had chopped them down they grew back more compact and beautiful than before. The flowers have no scent, but the leaves are sweetly aromatic. The Navajo used a decoction of them to protect from witchcraft. Aromatic aster grows in AL, AR, CO, DE, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, ME, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI, and WV. Adams CO OH, 10/2/21. Aster family, Asteraceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
