narrowleaf wild leek, Allium burdickii
Is narrowleaf a separate species from the wider leaved plants? The botanical jury seems to be hung, and the people that appreciate their flavor really don't care. Either way, fry them and have them with a steak! Yum! But test them first in moderation, particularly if you're among the older folk. What comes next after that delicious meal could be a different kind of trial. Narrowleaf blooms a couple of weeks earlier than wideleaf, and lacks red bases on the leaves. The flowers are smaller and less showy. Narrowleaf has a more northern range in IA, IL, IN, KY, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY(E), OH, PA, SD, TN(T), VA, VT, WI, WV, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 6/9/12. Onion family, Alliaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
