bluets, Houstonia caerulea
Bluets are also called Quaker ladies. Patches like this one are fascinatingly beautiful. The flowers are about one centimeter wide. They are distylous. Some plants will have flowers with pistils longer than stamens, others will be the other way around. This inhibits self pollination. Bluets grows in slightly damp spots in shade in AL, AR, CT, DE, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WI, WV, NB, NS, ON, QC, and on SPM. Monogalia Co WV, 4/22/21. Madder family, Rubiaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
