slender wedgegrass, Sphenopholis intermedia
I bet you've seen slender wedgegrass many times. But did you ever stop and take a good look? Hardly anyone does? Just another grass? Well yes, and there's just not much to make this one stand out. It just quietly goes about its work greening our land, making free oxygen, and feeding the occasional herbivore. Let's quietly appreciate this grass that somehow manages to grow in every state and province except CA. Lenawee Co MI, 6/13/15. Grass family, Poaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
