fourpetal St. John's-wort, Hypericum tetrapetalum
Fourpetal St. John's-wort is a shrubby species in southeastern flatlands, particularly pinelands. It is a beautiful species that seems to have gotten lost in the crowd. There are many species of Hypericum, and a number of them have four petals. Many have been used medicinally. But the only reference to any kind of use of this species that I have found is in green roof plantings. And even then it is lumped together with other Hypericum. Fourpetal grows in AL, FL, GA and western Cuba. Flagler Co FL, 1/28/13. St. John's-wort family, Hypericaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
