lax hornpod, Mitreola petiolata
Mitreola is a genus of about thirteen species in the Logania family. There are some dramatically attractive genera, like Spigelia. And then there's this. I'm ashamed to say that I failed to find the appreciation that even a little mud-dweller deserves. It was just early in the day to get down in the mud and to do a good job. You really have to be willing to spend the day in muddy pants to do this job right. Unfortunately, Mitreola has not gotten much attention from anyone. Even though they're toxic, they have apparently not drawn attention from herbalists. Lax hornpod grows in damp spots in AL, FL, GA, LA, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, and VA. Taylor Co FL, 7/7/18. Logania family, Loganiaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
