nodding star-of-Bethlehem, Ornithogalum nutans
Refugee or invader? Nodding star-of-Bethlehem originated in Ukraine and its southwestern neighbors. It came here looking for shelter in the form of shady gardens. It has now sought shelter in other places, and is sometimes too common. Should we welcome it, try to keep it in it's place, or just deport it all together? The reality is that now that star-of-Bethlehem is here, we don't have a practical choice. This species has taken root in AL, AR, CT, DE, IL, IN, MD, MI, MO, NC, NY, OH, OR, PA, VA, WA, WV, and ON. Lenawee Co MI, 5/27/14. Hyacinth family, Hyacinthaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
