Spanish iris, Iris pallida
Spanish iris together with Iris variegata are the parents of our popular bearded iris. Bearded iris began as a fertile natural hybrid. Now of course they're anything but natural. As originally begat, they displayed a range of the natural features of the parents. Thanks in this instance to Beal Gardens at Michigan State U, we can get a glimpse of where it all started. Or you might have seen Spanish iris wild in AR, CA, GA, IN, KY, LA, MO, TX, or ON. Beal Gardens MSU, 6/5/20. Iris family, Iridaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
