Virginia creeper, Parthenocissus quinquefolia
So elusive! I watched for years without catching Virginia at this moment. These sepals fall very quickly after the flowers open. Blink and you could miss them. Finally after a lot of unsatisfactory shots from as far away as Colorado, I caught this one right here on our back fence. These flowers are about 3/16 inch, but they're on those great big vines we see climbing up anything they can grab. If you can, you should let them climb. They really like masonry buildings, and can contribute to the fight against warming. Their shade helps keep buildings cool, and reduces the draw on air conditioning. Virginia creeper grows in AL, AR, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, MB, NB, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SK. Lenawee Co MI, 6/29/21. Grape family, Vitaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
