spiked hoarypea, Tephrosia spicata
Should spiked hoarypea be the next kiwi fruit? If you're selling things, there's a tendency to find more appealing names to market them under. Chinese gooseberries become kiwi fruit. But one nursery went another direction. Plant Delights says,"How can you not love a plant with a common name like spiked hoarypea?" Then they give up their own game, and start calling their plant 'Awakening'. These flowers do have a more phase when they look more awake, but so far I've only seen them neatly folded like this. Spiked hoarypea is native in AL, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MD, MS, NC, SC, TN, and VA. Baldwin Co GA, 7/7/18. Bean family, Fabaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
