common chickweed, Stellaria media
Spring is here, can chickweed be far behind? Or far away? Chickweed is a leading candidate for the world's most ubiquitous plant. From Eurasia it has spread everywhere, even to some Antarctic islands. Chickweed is a winter annual, and with that head start it is a very early bloomer. It's edible, and is an ingredient in traditional dishes at the Japanese celebration of springtime. With us it blooms in every state and province, and on GL and SPM. Lenawee Co MI, 5/4/13. Pink family, Caryophyllaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
