copper iris, Iris fulva
For those of us not privileged to live in fulva land, these orange red beauties are an amazement. Apart fom color, they are pretty much a standard wild swamp iris. They become more common as one goes south from the Ohio River. And like other iris, they are quite toxic. Copper iris grow in AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, KY, LA, MO, MS, OH, TN, and TX. Barataria Preserve, Jefferson Parish LA, 4/15/22. Iris family, Iridaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
