spring spiderlily, Hymenocallis liriosme
Finally, spiderlilies! Hoped to see some wild in the South for a long time. They just seem so exotic. But which one is it? A careful reading of descriptions of this and H. occidentalis can still leave you puzzled. Even the authors in Flora of North America note that herbarium specimens are hard to distinguish. But then the light dawns! It's spring! H. occidentalis blooms in the summer. Spring spiderlily grows in wetlands and along their borders in AL, AR, LA, MS, OK, and TX. Tyler Co TX, 4/16/22. Amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
