Florida yellow flax, Linum floridanum
Flax flowers all present as delicate bits on long thin stems. They just don't look very tough for a genus best known for giving us strong fiber. They come in red, white, and blue, and of course yellow. The red, white and blues include six of our species, four blue and one each of the others. The yellow section includes thirty more, and they are a delightful puzzle to identify. Don't try to do it without specimens, or you may wind up presenting an image of Florida yellow flax and wonder if you really know what you're talking about. Any way Florida flax is native in AL, DE, FL, GA, IL, LA, MD, MS, NC, NJ, SC, TN, TX, and VA. Wakulla Co FL, 7/8/18. Flax family, Linaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
