cedar sage, Salvia roemeriana
Cedar sage is native to the cedar brakes of Texas, Mexico, and according to one source, Arizona. This striking plant has become popular in hardiness zones 7-9, where it self seeds and can form attractive patches. The plants get about a foot tall. Ferdinand von Roemer (1818-1891) was a German geologist who spent a year and a half in Texas and wrote a treatise on the chalk formations there. As one of Texas' first scientists, he has been honored in at least ten of their plant names. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Garden, Travis Co TX, 4/17/22. Mint family, Lamiaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
