Field forget-me-not, Myosotis arvensis
Field forget-me-not or field scorpion-grass? Forget-me-nots have flowers that are a quarter inch or so across. Scorpion-grasses have flowers half that width or smaller. This species of Myosotis is in between, so take your pick! Myosotis means mouse ear. Most if not all species have small oblong hairy leaves. Field scorpion-grass is an occasional Eurasian introduction in CT, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, SK, and on SPM. Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
