narrow pipewort, Eriocaulon lineare
Pow! The firework just went off. And the camera caught it just as the pieces lit up at the end of their trajectories. Or its just a pipewort. Pipeworts don't seem to have much purpose from a human point of view other than giving us moments of amusement. They spend their time populating bogs and other wet spots, mostly in the tropics. They've found their niche, and that's that. Narrow pipewort reaches as far north as AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, and NC. Polk Co FL, 3/18/16. Pipewort family, Eriocaulaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
