yellow screwstem, Bartonia virginica
Have you missed seeing yellow screwstems as much as I? Pretty much always? They are elusive little bits. These flowers are only about 3/16 inch long on stems up to 15 inches, but often much shorter. The leaves are even shorter than the flowers. There is very little information about human/plant interaction with Bartonia. They're too hard to spot, and grow in bogs and around damp areas. So I suppose there's some reason I only recently saw these for the first time. Yellow screwstem grows in AL, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WI, WV, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, and QC. Lucas Co OH, 7/28/22. Gentian family, Gentianaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
